The Ground Rules
The detail is
in the ground.
The finer details are what separate an average install from one that looks right and lasts. Small shortcuts are usually the things that become obvious later.
Base levels
A firm, even base sets the finished surface. Hollows and humps underneath show straight through the turf.
Drainage
Water needs somewhere to go. Falls, outlets and the existing ground decide what each site needs.
Seam placement
Joins are planned around sight lines and foot traffic so they disappear instead of drawing the eye.
Pile direction
Turf has a grain. Running every piece the same way keeps the colour even across the whole area.
Edging & trims
Clean, secure edges against paths, walls and garden beds are what make an install look finished.
Fixing
The right fixing for the edge and the base keeps the surface from lifting or shifting over time.
Infill quantity
Infill helps the fibres stand and holds the surface in place. The right amount depends on the product.
Final grooming
Brushing the pile up and leaving the site clean: the last step, and the first thing people notice.

Where the craft was learned
Sports-grade
background.
Working on premium sports surfaces demands precision, technical understanding and a detailed knowledge of how synthetic turf performs.
That experience shaped the way Luma Turf approaches every installation. In an industry where shortcuts are often taken with base preparation, product choice, infill and finishing, we’re built around specialist knowledge, respect for the trade and workmanship designed to last.
We select products carefully and favour suppliers with an established Australian presence, so someone is accountable for product quality, faults and warranty support.

Good questions
Before you
choose turf.
Straight answers to what people ask us most.
Is all synthetic turf the same?
No. Synthetic turf is a saturated market, and product quality varies significantly. Manufacturing in China doesn’t automatically mean poor quality, but with less-established products it can be hard to know how they’ll perform five or ten years down the track. We favour suppliers with an established Australian presence, so there’s someone accountable for quality, faults and warranty support. Many of the products we install are backed by Australian warranties.
What should I consider before choosing synthetic turf?
How the area will be used plays a big role. Foot traffic, pets, children, heat exposure, drainage, surrounding surfaces and appearance all affect which product suits. Some landscape products are made for softer residential areas, others for heavier traffic, and some use heat-reflective technology to reduce surface temperatures. There are also specialist products for high-heat areas, such as near reflective glass fencing or windows, where concentrated sunlight can damage standard turf. Commercial and sports areas may have different requirements again.
What affects the scope and cost of an installation?
Every site is different. Access, the existing surface, how much preparation and base work is needed, drainage, edging and the product you choose all shape the scope. That’s why we talk through the job and look at the site before quoting.
Do you install over existing surfaces like concrete or terraces?
Terraces, courts and existing hard surfaces need different preparation and fixing methods from a lawn on soil. We’ll explain what your surface needs when we discuss the project.
How does the quote process work?
Give us a call, send a text, or send an enquiry with a few details and photos if you have them. We’ll have a chat about what you’re after and organise a site visit if needed.
